June 25, 1950
- Surprise attack on South Korea.
- North Korean armies crossed the border, also known as the 38th parallel in 11 places after artillery bombardments were reported in South Korea.
These maps picture how the North Koreans crossed the 38th parallel, which then caused the South Koreans to retreat and take refuge in the small peninsula of Pusan.
The Beginning Stages
- Machine-gun attacks on civilian and military airfields by four "Yak" planes were reported just outside the South Korean capital, Seoul.
- A North Korean wireless station in Pyongyang justified the invasion by claiming they were only counter attacking against border aggression from the South.
